Singapore Sling

Our sales & marketing head invited our client (where I am currently working with) together with the whole team for a couple of drinks in Regent Hotel located at One Cuscaden Road last August 13, 2009. We had a night of fun drinks, finger food and some chit-chat. The activity was done to build good rapport and camaraderie with our client. And also a time-off for the whole team. Some order for beer, cocktails, mocktails, wines and juices. Their finger food were superbly cooked and served.

For my drinks, I ordered for Cuba Libre, a mixture of Cola, lime and rum. And also got to taste Singapore Sling, made of gin, cherry brandy & Benedictine. At first I told myself that there's nothing special about compared with Margarita, Tequila Sunrise and Bloody Mary but as I finished the whole glass I now feel the kick. It's totally different. They say that this cocktail was invented by Ngiam Tong Boon especially for the Long Bar in Raffles Hotel in Singapore between 1910 and 1915. And is widely available in all bars and night club here in Singapore. Interesting!

More Than Just a Bag

One of the things that I surely like are bags and I believe to most of the women too. Last August 10, 2009 hubby and I was strolling along Orchard Road after our nicely done spa massage and dinner. While walking hubby told me that he will buy me bag in which I gladly accepted. Of course who will refuse to that kind of proposal. Yahoo!

So we went to Takashimaya, a mall where there a lot of choices. After two hours of walking and checking on what to buy. I choose a brown Guy Laroche shoulder bag with wallet and key holder. I love this bag, it's more than just a bag for me. Hubby really knows how to pamper me.

Steam Boat

Last August 4, 2009 our team decided to have steam boat for dinner and since we are also celebrating one of our colleague's birthday so I decided to join. And one of the reasons also is because I haven't been to a steam boat place.

I don't have any idea what is steam boat and when some colleague explain to me how is the process I know now why a lot of people wants to eat at steam boat and it is popular here in Singapore. The steam boat place that we went was a buffet style and located somewhere in Bugis. There are a lot of steam boat places you just have to choose the best location and watch out for the prices.

You have to choose what food you want and it's raw. They have a lot of variety like fish, chicken, pork, beef, mussels, cold cuts, fish balls, squid balls, shrimp, vegetables and many more. Plus drinks is also unlimited. You can also have rice if you want. The fun part there is you have to cook the food yourself. There are two ways of cooking the food, one by putting them in a boiling soup and the other one is by grilling in the pan. The result is a steam food. It's superbly delicious.

Plan Plan Plan

Two weeks from now me and hubby were supposed to have a vacation in Angkor Wat at Siem Reap in Cambodia. I have schedule this specifically to celebrate hubby's birthday and also to spend time together. I have in-fact contacted a travel agency in Cambodia to tour us in Angkor Wat, around Siem Reap and Phnom Penh. And even asked a friend whose been there for advice and some travel tips about the place. Everything was settled but due to a certain reason that that travel plan was bump-off. Two weeks ago we have received the confirmation ticket of hubby from his company for his business travel in New York. He will be traveling on the same day which we intend to have our vacation. He will be in New York for six (6) weeks business engagement.

Now, we will probably have this vacation set for next year. Hope we can still find time to push-thru with this vacation plan. Realization, no matter how hard you plan a certain endeavor and what-not but because of some more important things to attend to this plans will be postponed for a much later date. No matter how carefully you schedule everything and because you can't control some other factors this plans will be press on for another date. But at least the good thing you have a plan and the question there will be when this plan be realized.

First Family Movie

Last Saturday, even if am not feeling well I asked hubby to booked for our ticket for the movie UP by Disney Pixar. It's a cartoon movie that is suitable for kids. Movie about traveling, how you make your dream come into reality and what-not. Since our kids can at least understand stories and so we decided to watched a movie in a theater. Hubby booked for 5:30PM show since that the only open and available at the time that he checked on-line. And because Ralph's height is required to pay hubby payed four (4) adults (that includes my Uncle, who's with us at the moment for a vacation) and Inna, our daughter is still free. Come 4:30PM we are all off to Marina Bay Mall.

Inside the theater, Ralph was amazed with the screen although this was his second time, the first was when we were in the Philippines and at that time he is just one (1) year old still you can see how furious he was with the screen. But in the middle of the movie he started opening his mouth and making those funny comments. And I always remind him to keep quiet. At the end of the movie, we asked him if he liked the movie and he said "it was fun, enjoy it dad". Inna on the other hand is just silent since she doesn't talk that much and because she's just two(2) years old. But nevertheless we did enjoy the first movie together. We will definitely do this more often as the kids grow and am looking forward for these kind of activity.

A Different Noddle Soup

One of the things I like about my trip in Ho Chi Minh City was their noddle. I haven't tasted that kind of noddle soup as of this writing except in that place. My Vietnamese colleague told me that in order for them to come up with that soup it will take them a gruelling four (4) hours. They really give great importance for the soup. Imagine how tedious it could be. No wonder that this is one of the must-try food in Vietnam.

Out of curiosity, I happen to try both restaurant that offers an authentic Vietnamese noddle soup - the Pho 24 & Pho 2000. But I like best in Pho 24. Aside from their well organised restaurant and pleasant staff, the noddle soup is more scrumptious compared with the latter. One bowl of noddle is good enough for one meal, it's really that filling. They normally served the noddle soup with vegetables and spices separately and with hot tea. It will cost you around 35,000 - 50,000 Vietnamese Dong or roughly S$3.50-5.00, fair enough.
